Ingredients
  Thin white bread slices 6
  Butter 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs), melted
  Butter 2 Tablespoon
  Apples 6 Large, cored, pared, and quartered
  Sugar 2 1⁄2 Cup (40 tbs)
  Lemon juice 2 Tablespoon
  Golden raisins 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  Coarsely chopped pecans 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
Directions

1. Remove crusts from bread slices; cut each into 3 strips. Dip into melted butter; line bottom of a 1 1/2-quart deep glass casserole or ovenproof bowl with strips, then arrange remaining strips upright around sides.
2. Heat 2 tablespoons butter in a skillet; add the apples and cook until apples are tender but not mushy. Sprinkle with sugar and lemon juice. Lightly mix in raisins and pecans. Turn mixture into the bread-lined casserole.
3. Bake at 350°F about 40 minutes, or until bread is golden brown .
