Tomato Beef Stew

Ingredients
  Cubed beef 1 1⁄2 Pound (1 1/2 Inch)
  Shortening 2 Tablespoon
  Condensed tomato soup 10 3⁄4 Ounce (1 Can)
  Water 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
  Whole white onions 6 Small
  Carrots 6 Small, cut in half
  Potatoes 3 , quartered
  Thyme leaves 1⁄4 Teaspoon, crushed
Directions

Brown meat in shortening in large heavy pan.
Add soup and water.
Cover; simmer 1 1/2 hours.
Add remaining ingredients.
Cover; cook 1 hour or until vegetables are tender.
Stir occasionally.
Uncover; cook to desired consistency.
