Kentucky Carob Pie
|Pastry||1 (For 1 Basic Flaky Piecrust)|
|Milk carob chips||1 Cup (16 tbs) (Dark Carob Chips May Be Substituted)|
|Eggs||4 , beaten|
|Butter||1⁄3 Cup (5.33 tbs), melted|
|Maple syrup||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|Honey||1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)|
|Vanilla extract||1 1⁄2 Teaspoon|
|Chopped walnuts||1 1⁄2 Cup (24 tbs)|
Preheat oven to 350°F.
Roll out pastry, and line a 9-inch deep-dish pie plate with it.
Sprinkle carob chips on bottom.
In a medium-size bowl, combine eggs, butter, maple syrup, honey, vanilla, and chopped walnuts.
Pour over carob chips.
Decorate top with walnut halves, and bake for 40 to 45 minutes, or until knife inserted 1 inch from the center comes out clean.
Remove from oven and cool.
Center will cook completely during this time.
