Spicy Old Fashioned Beef Stew

  Vegetable oil 1 Tablespoon (Crisco Brand)
  Boneless beef round steak 1 1⁄4 Pound, trimmed and cut into 1 inch cubes
  Water 2 3⁄4 Cup (44 tbs), divided
  Worcestershire sauce 1 Teaspoon
  Bay leaves 2
  Garlic 1 Clove (5 gm), minced
  Paprika 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Pepper 1⁄4 Teaspoon
  Carrots 8 Medium, quartered
  Potatoes 8 Small, peeled and quartered
  Onions 4 Small, quartered
  Frozen cut green beans 9 Ounce (1 Package)
  Cornstarch 1 Tablespoon
  Salt To Taste

Heat Crisco® Oil in Dutch oven on medium-high heat.
Add beef.
Cook and stir until browned.
Add 1 1/2 cups water, Worcestershire sauce, bay leaves, garlic, paprika and pepper.
Bring to a boil.
Reduce heat to low.
Simmer one hour 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Remove bay leaves.
Add carrots, potatoes and onions.
Simmer 30 to 45 minutes or until vegetables are almost tender.
Add beans.
Simmer 5 minutes or until tender.
Remove from heat.
Add one cup water to Dutch oven.
Combine remaining 1/4 cup water and cornstarch in small bowl.
Stir well.
Stir into ingredients in Dutch oven.
Return to low heat.
Cook and stir until thickened.
Season with salt, if desired.
