Apple Charlotte

Apple Charlotte is a very easy to prepare delicious recipe. Enjoy this amazingly tempting mouth watering Apple Charlotte; I am sure you would love to share your experience with me.
Ingredients
  Thin white bread slices 7 (From A Large Loaf)
  Butter 3 Ounce
  Cooking apples 1 1⁄2 Pound
  Soft light brown sugar/Demerara sugar 3 Ounce
  Water 2 Tablespoon
Directions

Heat the oven to 400°F, 200°C, gas no. 6 and butter a shallow 2 pint (a good litre) oven proof dish.
Spread the bread thinly with butter on one side and with a 2 inch (5 cm) cutter stamp out four rounds from each slice of bread.
Arrange the bread over the sides and base of the dish, reserving a few circles for the top.
Peel, core and slice the apples and place in a saucepan with the sugar and water, cover and cook gently until soft and thick, then beat with a wooden spoon until smooth.
Spoon into the dish and cover the top with the remaining circles of bread.
Sprinkle the top with a little extra brown sugar and bake in the oven for 25 to 30 minutes until the bread is crisp and golden brown.
