Sweet And Sour Beef Stew
|Vegetable oil||2 Tablespoon|
|Beef stew meat||1 1⁄2 Pound|
|Carrots||3 , peeled and thinly sliced on the diagonal|
|Onion||1 Medium, thinly sliced|
|Canned tomato sauce||8 Ounce|
|Firmly packed brown sugar||1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)|
|Vinegar||1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)|
|Worcestershire sauce||1 Tablespoon|
|Water||1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)|
Heat oil in a skillet on top of a conventional surface unit.
Brown beef on all sides.
Place browned beef in a deep, 2 1/2 quart, heat-resistant, non-metallic casserole.
Add remaining ingredients and heat, tightly covered, on simmer for 60 minutes, or until meat and vegetables are tender.
