Chocolate Peanut Butter Rice Krispies Squares are an elevated version of a classic treat! It's like a Reese's Peanut Butter Cup meets a marshmallow square. Three layers for a simple and delicious dessert.
|Butter||8 Tablespoon (split in half)|
|Mini marshmallows||3 Cup (48 tbs)|
|Puffed rice cereal||4 Cup (64 tbs)|
|Semisweet chocolate chips/Milk chocolate chips||4 Ounce|
|Creamy peanut butter||1/2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|Bittersweet chocolate||3 Large (60|
In a wide saucepan or skillet, melt 4 tbsp butter over low heat. Add the mini marshmallows, and stir for about 5 minutes, until the marshmallows have completely melted. Stir in the puffed rice cereal, and stir to coat.
Scrape the marshmallow cereal out into an 88 square pan, and press it down with a spatula to really compact the marshmallow squares. Let that cool while you start on the peanut butter chocolate layer.
Melt the milk or semisweet chocolate and peanut butter in 30-second intervals in the microwave, stirring after each time, until smooth. Then spread the mixture evenly over the top of the marshmallow cereal. Refrigerate for about 1-2 hours until firm to the touch.
For the final layer, melt 4 tbsp butter and the bittersweet chocolate in 30-second intervals in the microwave, stirring after each time, until smooth. Spread the mixture over the milk chocolate peanut butter layer, and refrigerate for another hour or so, until firm to the touch.
Cut into squares and enjoy!
