Carol's Burgers with Caramelized Onions

Make this meal in under 30 minutes! My sister-in-law Carol shared this delicious recipe for hamburgers and caramelized onions. She served it with home made sweet potato fries and a simple grapefruit and avocado salad. The meal was so delicious that it's become one of my favorite go-to meals!
Ingredients
For the burger
Hamburger meat 2 Pound (organic no hormone hamburger meat used)
  Organic ketchup 3 Tablespoon
  Worcestershire sauce 1 Tablespoon
  Onion 1 , sliced
  Garlic cloves 3 (Optional)
  Garlic salt To Taste
  Pepper To Taste
  Whole wheat hamburger rolls 6
For the fries
  Sweet poatoes 8
  Garlic salt To Taste
Extra virgin olive oil 1 Cup (16 tbs) (for deep frying)
For the salad
Ruby red grapefruits 2 , peeled and sectioned
Avocados 2 , scooped and sliced
Directions

MAKING

1. For the burger, in a bowl combine burger meat with ketchup, worcestershire sauce, salt and pepper. Mix well and form even sized 6- 8 patties with the mixture.

2. In a skillet, drizzle some olive oil and add the onions and garlic. Saute and set aside.

3. In the same skillet, place the patties and cook. Flip and cook on the other side until brown.

4. Place the hamburger rolls in a skillet or on a grill and heat them.

5. For sweet potato fries: 2. Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F.

6. Rinse and peel sweet potatoes. Cut the potatoes lengthwise into ½ thick slices, and then cut each slice into ¼ inch batons.

7. On a baking sheet, spread extra virgin olive oil.

8. In a large bowl, place 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil, fries, garlic salt and pepper, gently toss.

9. Place sweet potato fries on sheet, drizzle a little olive oil over the fries along with some garlic salt and pepper, toss.

10. Roast the fries for approximately 20-25 minutes. About half way through roasting, toss fries with a heatproof spatula.

12. For the grapefruit and avacado salad: in a bowl, place avocados and grapefruit wedges. Gently mix.

SERVING

13. Place the patty on the lower half of the hamburger roll and top with some caramalized onion and garlic. Cover with the other half of the bun and serve accompanied with sweet potato fries and grapefruit and avocado salad.
