Almond Bow Ties
|Frozen puff pastry||8 3⁄4 Ounce (1/2 Of A 17 1/4 Ounce Package)|
|Sugar||3⁄4 Cup (12 tbs)|
|Almond paste||7 Ounce|
1. Thaw pastry according to package directions. Sprinkle 1/4 cup sugar over a flat work surface. Set puff pastry on sugar and sprinkle remaining 1/4 cup on top. Roll out dough into a 12 x 14-inch rectangle. Cut rectangle crosswise into 4 strips 3 1/2 inches wide; then cut each strip crosswise into 12 (1-inch) pieces.
2. Between 2 pieces of wax paper, roll out almond paste into a 9 x 12-inch rectangle. Cut rectangle crosswise into 4 strips 3 inches wide; then cut each strip crosswise into 12 (3/4-inch) pieces. Place an almond paste rectangle on top of each pastry strip. Pinch together in center and twist around completely to form a bow tie with almond surface facing upward. Place on parchment- or foil-lined cookie sheets, preferably insulated. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate 15 minutes.
3. Preheat oven to 400°F. Bake bow ties 15 minutes, or until golden brown. Remove to a rack and let cool completely.
