Apple Cider Stew
|Turnip||1⁄2 Small, diced to make 3 cups|
|Fresh green beans||1⁄2 Pound, cut into 1 1/2-inch pieces|
|Water||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|Sliced onion||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
|Boneless beef||2 Pound, cut into 1 inch cubes|
|Apple cider||2 Cup (32 tbs)|
|Flour||1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)|
TO HEAT BY TIME In medium glass bowl, combine turnips, beans and 1/4 cup water.
Set Power Select at HIGH for 8 to 9 minutes; stir once.
Drain; reserve vegetables.
In 4-quart casserole, combine onion, beef, cider, catsup, salt, bay leaf, pepper and thyme.
Set Power Select at HIGH for 5 to 6 minutes and LOW for 60 minutes; stir occasionally.
Add reserved vegetables and heat, covered, 15 minutes or until beef and vegetables are tender at LOW.
TO HEAT BY INSTA-MATIC In 4-quart casserole dish, combine, turnips, beans, 1/4 cup water, onion, beef, apple cider, catsup, salt, bay leaf, pepper and thyme; mix well.
Cover; heat on COOK 2.
After time appears in display window, stir occasionally.
In measuring cup, stir flour with 1/4 cup of water.
Stir into stew.
Set Power Select at HIGH for 3 to 4 minutes or until stew is slightly thickened.
