Benne Seed Cookies

Ingredients
  Light brown sugar 1 Cup (16 tbs), firmly packed
  Benned seed 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  Shortening 1⁄3 Cup (5.33 tbs), melted
  Egg 1 , beaten
  All purpose flour 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs), sifted
  Salt 1⁄8 Teaspoon
  Hot water 1 Tablespoon
Directions

Combine and blend all ingredients.
Drop from teaspoon onto greased cookie sheets.
Bake in preheated slow oven (325°F.) for about 10 minutes.
Remove to rack.
When cool, store in airtight containers.
